Description
The Global Real Estate: Transaction Tools CIPS course is a one-day course and is one of the two core courses required for U.S. real estate professionals to earn the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation. This course provides you with the tools needed to present investment information to international clients—in their currency and area. You will learn how to measure investment performance, prepare financial projections, and understand the effects of taxes and exchange rates on investment.
Learning Objectives

- Convert measurements between the metric system and U.S. system of measurements.
- Alert clients and customers to currency, fund transfer, and financing issues, and guide them to seek expert advice.
- Alert foreign clients and customers to tax considerations of real estate transactions
- Begin to perform basic financial analysis using standard formulas.
- Compile, organize, and present financial data so that clients can make informed decisions.
- Identify properties that meet the personal and investment objectives of clients and customers.
Become a CIPS Designee in 5 Easy Steps
Criteria for Earning the CIPS Designation:
The Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) Designation is the only international credential recognized by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). It trains real estate agents to handle cross-border transactions, currency fluctuations, tax issues, and cross-cultural negotiations for global clients.
To earn and maintain this designation, professionals must meet specific milestones:
Coursework: Complete two core courses (Global Real Estate: Local Markets and Global Real Estate: Transaction Tools) and three elective regional or specialty courses.
Experience: Accumulate 100 elective points through international real estate transactions or qualifying global business activities.
Application & Fees: Submit a designation application with a $75 fee. You must also be a member in good standing with NAR.
Dues: Maintain an active CIPS Network membership, which currently costs $220 annually.
NJ Circle of Excellence Industry Unit
Earn 1 unit towards NJ REALTORS ® Circle of Excellence Sales Award by completing all requirements for obtaining a NAR Designation / NAR Certification, including course work and paying application fees, etc. Requirements must be completed by November 13, 2026, no exceptions.
